India’s highest civilian award, his lifetime of dedication and service to the nation is celebrated civilian honour, it feels like there could be no better time for this. Could have done. When many ideologies were very strong in the country, Advani, who raised the flag of cultural nationalism in politics in the name of Shri Ram, has now received this honor within a fortnight of the consecration of Ram Mandir and it can also be said very easily that Today there is no one to oppose Advani’s name in the country.

Today BJP is established as an invincible political force, but Advani’s efforts in the eighties played an important role in establishing the BJP as the basis of an alternative politics apart from Congress. Along with the popularity of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the contribution of Lal Krishna Advani as an organizer is considered important in taking the BJP from two seats in 1984 to the pinnacle of power in 15 years. Actually, Atal Bihari was the biggest face of BJP, but behind the scenes it was Advani who did the work of building the organization.

Formed on Advani’s Insight: The Birth of the Party In 1980, it was Advani who advised Vajpayee that he should separate from the Janata Party family and form a party, because the then Janata Party leaders were trying to stop Vajpayee’s growth. It was Advani who chose the election symbol of lotus flower. In politics, the Atal-Advani duo was considered very successful and unbreakable. Atal Bihari Vajpayee was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 2015. On Saturday, during the tenure of Prime Minister Modi, it was announced to give Bharat Ratna to Advani also.

Advani played a central role in including the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya in the BJP’s agenda in the Palampur convention and then in taking it to the masses with the help of Ramrath Yatra in 1990. Worth Acknowledging: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Crucial Role in Coordinating the Ramrath Yatra . After 34 years, 11 days after his consecration in the grand Ram temple, Prime Minister Modi himself informed about awarding Bharat Ratna to Advani. Yet, Advani’s Path from Ramrath to Bharat Ratna Embodied a Rollercoaster of Triumphs and Trials.

As Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister in the Vajpayee government, Advani was known for taking tough decisions on national security. Even though Vajpayee was the leader of the government as Prime Minister, Advani’s imprint could be seen everywhere in the party’s organization and this is the reason that once a demand was raised to make Advani the Prime Minister.

Political journey of veteran leader

Advani started politics in 1957 as an associate of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Deendayal Upadhyay. Along with this, he also tried his hand in journalism while working in an organizer, but later dedicated his entire life to politics. Lal Krishna Advani, who entered Parliament for the first time from Rajya Sabha in 1970, served as a Member of Parliament a total of 10 times till 2019.

Even after being reduced to two seats in 1984, Advani did not give up and five years later took the party to 85 seats. From Here Onward, BJP Soared Ahead, Led by Amit Shah, Becoming the World’s Largest Party

When Advani had to lose the post of President

Despite his staunch Hindutva image, Advani remained in controversies for calling Jinnah secular. While in Lahore, Advani faced discontent from BJP workers after referring to Mohammad Ali Jinnah as secular, resulting in him stepping down from the post of President. However, despite this setback, Advani’s significance within the BJP remained intact. In 2009, the party chose to contest the Lok Sabha elections with him at the forefront, although the anticipated success did not materialize at that time.

From volunteer to deputy prime minister

Advani is the person who has held the post of party president for the longest period since the formation of BJP in 1980. After an extensive three-decade-long journey as a Member of Parliament, Advani transitioned into the role of Home Minister and eventually assumed the position of Deputy Prime Minister during the tenure of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led government (1999-2004).
. Advani is considered a very intellectual, capable and strong leader in whom the idea of a strong and prosperous India is deeply embedded. As Vajpayee used to say – Advani never gave up the basic idea of nationalism and keeping this in mind, he has moved ahead in his political life and has shown flexibility wherever he felt the need.
